An outstanding German cellist and composer, Bernhard Heinrich Romberg played his first public performance at the age of 7. The concert tours all over Europe followed. Romberg was appointed a cellist of the Münster Court Orchestra and later assumed the similar position in the court orchestra of the Prince Elector Archbishop in Bonn. Romberg met Beethoven in Bonn and they became friends. Romberg’sMethode de violoncelle is still an important method for young cellists.
