An important and versatile musician, pianist, teacher and publisher, Jan Ladislav Dussek completed his music education at the University of Prague. In his early years Dussek toured widely earning a brilliant international reputation. Dussek was appointed Kapellmeister to Prince Radziwill, and later worked as a performer and teacher in Paris and London, always in high demand and enormously respected. Dussek founded a very successful publishing business and was instrumental in extending the volume range of the keyboard working closely with Broadwood, a major piano maker. Dussek is regarded as one of the best piano virtuosos of the beginning of the 19th Century.
