A noted flute virtuoso and composer, young Mathieu-André Reichert played in the bars to make a living. Reichert was soon recognized as an outstanding virtuoso and became a student at the Brussels Conservatory. Reichert won the first prize there and was appointed a musician of the court. Reichert’s numerous concert tours took him all over Europe, the United States and Brazil. In Brazil Reichert popularized a new Boëhm transverse flute.
