The younger brother of the great Joseph Haydn, Michael Haydn received a wide recognition in Austria and the rest of Europe as a composer, educator and music administrator. In 1757, Michael Haydn became Kapellmeister to the Bishop of Grosswardein. 1762, Michael Haydn settled in Salzburg where he assumed the position of Konzertmeister to the Archbishop. Michael Haydn was an important teacher, Weber and Diabelli were among his students.
