Heitor Villa-Lobos is recognized as a major musician and composer in Brazil, and possibly in the entire South America. One of Villa-Lobos’s first great successes was in 1923 in Paris where he stayed for almost 4 years. Villa-Lobos came back to Brazil in 1930, and almost immediately won a public and official recognition that allowed him to create and develop professional professional music education in Brazil. Villa-Lobos wrote in virtually all music genres: stage-works, choral and instrumental compositions, chamber music, songs and piano music.
