A great Romanian pianist, Dinu Lipatti studied at the Bucharest Conservatory. At age 16, Lipatti received the second prize at the Vienna International Music Competition. Jury member Alfred Cortot invited Lipatti to study with him in Paris. Other Lipatti’s teachers were Lefebure, Munch, Dukas and Boulanger. In 1943, Lipatti assumed the professorship at the Geneva Conservatory. Lipatti died at the age of 33 but still remains on the list of best-selling recording artists.
