Carl Loewe short biography
A distinguished German baritone, conductor and composer, Carl Loewe was called the Schubert of North Germany. Loewe began his professional music studies with his father. Loewe was awarded a special stipend from Jerome Bonaparte, the King of Westphalia that allowed him to continue his education in music and theology at the Halle University. As a singer, Loewe became very popular during his numerous concert tours in England, France, Sweden and Norway. As a composer, Loewe is chiefly remembered for his outstanding songs.
