The greatest German organist of his generation, Sigfrid Karg-Elert was a student at the Leipzig Conservatory. In 1919, Karg-Elert was appointed professor there. Karg-Elert admired Debussy, Scriabin and Schoenberg, but created his own, unique style. Karg-Elert’s music represents the high point of late Romantic music; it is extremely intensive and emotional.
