George Chadwick short biography
An important representative of New England School of American composers, George Chadwick was a high-school dropout. For his music education Chadwick went to Europe, first to France and later to Munich to become a student of Josef Rheinberger. In the United States Chadwick enjoyed a long successful career as a composer, conductor and music administrator. In 1897 Chadwick was appointed dean of the New England Conservatory of Music. Chadwick is considered the most innovative composer of his generation.
