As Ragtime became fashionable in the USA, Edward Kelley received a national recognition as a composer. As a child, Kelly was already playing in Ragtime bands and writing music for them. In 1905, Kelly wrote Peaceful Henry, which became famous overnight and was recorded by numerous bands in the USA and abroad. Having composed many more popular Rags, Kelly organized his own Kelly's Band and Orchestra in 1906. The band was very successful and enjoyed a long career. In 1917, Kelly put together a fifty-piece band that performed a Welcome Home concert for returning WWII veterans.
