A noted German composer, singer and harpsichordist, Johann Froberger studied with Frescobaldi. As a prominent composer of suites and dances, Froberger succeeded combining different compositional styles. Having achieved early recognition in Italy, Froberger went to France
where his compositions were warmly received and where he met the most distinguished musicians and artists of the period. Froberger’s music is based on a simple counterpoint with a variety of themes and sonorities.
