A distinguished French composer and conductor, Andre Caplet was greatly admired by Claude Debussy who had a long and fruitful collaboration with Caplet. Andre Caplet won the prestigious Prix de Rome that immediately created him a place among the prominent composers. Caplet was also a noted conductor, first in Paris and later as the Music director of the Boston Opera. At Debussy’s request, Caplet completed the orchestration of his Le martyre de Saint-Sébastien. Caplet was also the conductor of its first performance. Caplet’s compositions are filled the enchanting melodic effects and incredible colors. |
