Carl Philipp Emanuel (C.P.E.) Bach short biography
The second son of J. S. Bach, Carl Philipp Emanuel (C.P.E.) Bach was regarded as one of the greatest harpsichordists of his generation. After study at the University as both keyboard player and composer, C.P.E. Bach was appointed harpsichordist to the Crown Prince of Prussia. CPE Bach later accepted the position of General Director of Music of the five churches in Hamburg. C.P.E. Bach belonged to circle of most prominent writers and thinkers of the 18th Century. In 1755 C.P.E. Bach wrote Essay on the True Art of Playing Keyboard Instruments.
